Antibiotic effectiveness on biofilm-producing Escherichia coli isolated from catheterized patients

Biofilm is one of the factors that facilitate occurrence catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI). Escherichia coli reported as most dominant bacteria have virulence including biofilm formation. Uropathogenic E. (UPEC) shows increasing resistance to several antibiotics. Examination antibiotic sensitivity on biofilm-producing and its activity formation are important for selecting high effectiveness antibiotics which beneficial management CAUTI patients. A total 35 isolates were recultured in medium LB agar blood agar. The evaluated based their MIC value In addition, antibiofilm MBIC was also evaluated. data obtained analyzed both descriptively analytically. Almost good meropenem antibiotics, amoxicillin-clavulanic acid, Fosfomycin. However, among only fosfomycin showed activity. different terms phenotype between catheter observed. there no significantly differences (pMIC=0.522) (pMBIC = 0.523). conclusion, alternatives therapy planktonic acid fosfomycin, while fosfomycin. screening examination improve patients recommended.
